Job description

The candidates will be hired within the Mathematical Statistics division at the Department of Mathematics and join the doctoral program in Applied and Computational Mathematics. The Mathematical Statistics division is active in research areas such as probability theory, stochastic processes, computational methods, statistical modelling and statistical inference with applications in the natural sciences, economics, the engineering sciences and medicine. There are currently six doctoral students at the division of Mathematical Statistics and 23 doctoral students in the doctoral program in Applied and Computational Mathematics. 

The employment is four years with a possibility of at most five years. Up to 20 percent department duties are included in the employment.

Qualifications

A suitable background for this position would be a Master of Science in mathematics or applied mathematics with a specialization in mathematical statistics, probability theory, financial mathematics, or related. In addition to the traditional academic merits, a relevant degree project, international experience, and language skills are regarded as advantageous qualifications.

Applicants must be strongly motivated for doctoral studies, possess the ability to work independently and perform critical analysis as well as possessing good levels of cooperative and communicative abilities. Female candidates are particularly encouraged to apply.
