Science for Life Laboratory is a national bioscience hub supporting Swedish researcher in all fields of life science. For the support SciLifeLab has over 30 unique service facilities equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and staff expertise. To further strengthen our team at the advanced light microscopy facility we are now recruiting an application expert in super-resolution localization microscopy.

Job description

The applicant’s main focus will be to further develop support in super-resolution localization based microscopy for nanoscale cellular visualization. The applicant will work at the advanced light microscopy facility (www.scilifelab.se/facilities/alm) and together with the present staff support all modalities of super-resolution fluorescence microscopy (SIM, STED, PALM/STORM). The daily work will be focused on supporting Swedish researchers in planning, executing and finalizing their super-resolution localization imaging projects. Additionally, the position is connected to a large freedom in further development of super-resolution localization microscopy applications (e.g. instrumentation, sample preparation, analysis). The position is for one year, can be extended with a second year.


Expert competence in single-molecule localization based microscopy (SMLM). Good knowledge in cell biology applications of SMLM, including laboratory work related to sample preparation, as well as image analysis connected to the technique. You are a careful and detail-oriented person, not afraid of taking responsibility, and you appreciate working in a field of rapid technical and methodical developments. You have a strong desire to further develop applications of super-resolution imaging and an interest in finding novel solutions to problems where and when they arise.


Ph.D in applied physics, biophysics, cell biology or the equivalent.

Advanced knowledge in super-resolution imaging with single-molecule localization microscopy (SMLM).

Advanced knowledge in cell biology preparation and analysis of SMLM projects and applications.

Fluency in English, good team spirit, and excellent communication skills
