Job description

The postdoc position is concerned with the design, evaluation, and demonstration of 5G mobile networks. The main objective is to develop radio technologies and spectrum usage schemes for high data rate mmWave communications that can enable immersive video services for fast-moving drones and cars. The research topics include three areas:

1) mmWave beamforming/tracking algorithms and cell-free network architecture with flexible duplexing,

2) spectrum usage schemes for mmWave bands and economic analysis of 5G URLLC systems, and

3) AI-assisted communication and networking algorithms.

The position is with the Radio Communication Systems Lab at the department of Communication Systems (CoS), located in the KTH Kista Campus. It is a one-year, full-time position with the possibility of extension to two years.


Applicants must hold or be about to receive Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related area before the last application date. The Ph.D. degree must be obtained within the last three years (exceptions for special grounds, for instance parental leave or leave due to illness).

Excellent academic credentials and publication record and a strong background in wireless networks & communications are mandatory requirements. Expertise in mmWave beamforming and tracking algorithms, spectrum licensing and authorization, techno-economic analysis, and/or learning-based communication algorithms is considered an advantage. The evaluation will be based on the scientific quality of the candidate in accordance with the needs of the research outlined above.

The applicant should be highly motivated and able to perform critical thinking and analysis. Since the research will be conducted within the framework of a Horizon 2020 Europe-Korea collaboration project, excellent communication and international teamwork skills are required. Furthermore, excellent written and spoken English proficiency is expected.
